I am a brown owl- and I was flying around, looking for some yummy juicy mouse in the dark night.
I have big round yellow eyes – which I can keep wide open at night- when most eyes are fast asleep. I have sharp ears and I can easily hear a mouse’s squeak if it passes by. I flew round and round, far and wide, and Finally, I reached my favourite spot in the whole of Madina-and so I decided to take some rest…
And do you know why, I had chosen this spot-well it was because I could hear the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)’s beautiful voice of Quran Recitation- from there… (How lucky!) The tree on which I rested, was near the Prophet’s house.
But today something was different. There were so many people there.
I turned his head to the right and then to the left…and then looked backwards and to the front! (Did you know that an owl can turn his head almost full around.) wow! I bet you did’nt know!
I thought to myself.
What’s going on?… Is the Prophet’s life in danger?
What will happen to him?
I started praying to Allah to protect the Prophet whom I dearly loved.
There were many mice around but I couldn’t think of eating them because… I was worried.
How will the Prophet escape? Was there a way out for him? You see- there were people with swords- around his house. I went closer and heard the Prophet telling his Cousin Ali (as).
Will you sleep in my bed? so that those people outside- who want to harm me, feel like I’m still in bed? Imam Ali at once agrees and asks the Prophet “will you be safe if I do so?”
The Holy Prophet said- yes dear Ali, and remember- Allah loves us all! Allah is my master and my helper. At once my heart felt light and I thought… Allah is my master! He is my Helper. Allah is my Lord! He is my protector!
And then the most amazing thing happened! The Holy Prophet came out of the front door-yes! right in front of the enemies’! But they didn’t see him. At once I remembered the Holy Prophet’s words about Allah.
I couldn’t help singing…. Allah is my master! He is my Helper-Allah is my Lord! He is my protector! As time passed, I began to worry- about what would happen to Imam Ali. I peeped in the window and saw that Ali (as) had fully covered himself and was asleep-he was not scared at all…
What do you think happens next?
