Reflective Practice

During the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is so easy to lose sight of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. That is where self-reflection comes in.

Self-reflection means taking the time to think and evaluate your character, values, biases, emotions, desires and actions.

It can help to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This practice encourages you to press the “pause” button amidst the chaos(thoughts) in your mind on your daily life, so you can better understand yourself.

A study of UK commuters found that those who were prompted to use their commute to think about and plan for their day were happier, more productive and less burned out than people who did not.

When reflecting ask yourself:
1. What are your core values ?
2. Can you remain true to your values?
3. What are your beliefs and principles?
3. What kind of person are you?
4 .Do you care/value your relationships?
5. What have I been doing right and what isn’t working?

Peter Drucker said:

“From the quiet reflection, will come even more effective and corrective action”.
