Personal Chores

Performing Personal Chores: Lessons from the Holy Prophet

Even though he possessed lofty spiritual stations, had found a special place in the hearts of the Muslim faithful and was granted a particular form of respect from members of his family, the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) never liked for others to perform his personal chores. Rather, he sought to be completely independent in taking care of his personal affairs. By so doing, he succeeded in showing respect towards others and not thinking of himself as better than others as well as teaching others to be self-reliant.

Identity

The Rise of Tribalism: The Dangers of Divisiveness and Its Solution

We can define identity politics as a certain group with a different set of background, cultural beliefs of ethnicity forming a political group while trying to influence the structures in a country or state. Tribalism, another form of polarisation, based on what tribe one comes from, has roots we can trace back to the time of the holy Prophet Muhammed (saww), which he (saww) came to remove from the society at that time. Which is where all the emphasis on taking care of one’s brother in faith, praying congregational prayers, rights of the neighbour, orphan and widow, come from and have great importance in the Islamic tradition.
