2000-2023

On 13th September 2023, we experienced the unexpected loss of our beloved son, treasured brother, and incredible friend: Mohammed Hussein Nazarali Kara, who was just 23 years old.

Mohammed Hussein was an extraordinary soul, the kind of person whose presence was an absolute necessity or a heartfelt desire for everyone fortunate enough to have known him. The combination of his infinitely infectious smile, his unparalleled sense of humour (remarkably punny and witty), and his laugh (that would always outlast everyone else’s) meant that every room he entered would practically bounce with energy and laughter. Even the funniest amongst us would relinquish the status of being “the funny one” to Mohammed Hussein.

What set Mohammed Hussein apart was not just his humour, but the love and kindness that lay beneath it. Whether it was the simple act of kissing his mother goodnight on her forehead and ensuring she was snugly tucked in every night, his spontaneous acts of gifting friends and family without any special occasion, the playful notes he left on his coworkers’ desks, or the unexpected text messages he sent to those of us who were lucky enough to have our numbers saved to his phone, asking, “Have you had enough water to drink today?” – Mohammed Hussein’s love knew no bounds.

While we all yearn for Mohammed Hussein’s presence, longing to reciprocate the love he showed us through both words and actions, we understand that we can no longer convey our love verbally. However, we are not entirely powerless. We still hold the power to express our love through our deeds.

Whilst reflecting on Mohammed Hussein’s larger-than-life personality, we also recognised his even greater aspirations. Among his many ambitions, one shone brighter than the rest: his desire to one day nurture and uplift the lives of orphans. Whether it was through sponsoring orphaned children, providing them with a better education, or a safe place to live, he dreamed of offering opportunities that could change the course of their lives.

This ambition of his, intertwined with our deep desire to express our love for him, and our awareness of the lasting benefits that charities can bring to the deceased (sadaqah jariyah), has led us to organise this fundraiser. Alongside being a charity that generates dividends for his soul, this fundraiser is a tribute to Mohammed Hussein’s unfulfilled dreams, a testament to our love for him, and a means of saying our final goodbyes. This is our love letter to Mohammed Hussein, written not in words, but in deeds that echo his aspiration and goodness that nurtures his soul in the next world.

The funds from this fundraiser will be directed to the Haven of Peace orphanage in Tanzania, Mohammed Hussein’s homeland. These funds will support the construction of four 25-square-meter classrooms at the orphanage.

Know that, whether or not you had the privilege of knowing Mohammed Hussein personally, every act of charity you engage in is for the sake of Allah (SWT).

Mohammed Hussein, we love you, and we miss you so much.

His family and closest friends.

May Allah SWT repose the departed soul in the abundance of His mercy and rest him amongst the chosen ones – Aameen. We request our readers to remember marhum and all the Marhumeen with Sura-e-Fateha.
