An Amiable Inspirational Personality

Marhum Alhaj Bwana Ali Hussain of Arusha was born in Zanzibar in a renowned family of Sheriff Dewji Jamal.

The grandparent, Haji Dewji Jamal first came to Zanzibar from India in 1860. He was one of the pioneers and founders of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Community in Zanzibar in 1881.

Marhum Bwana Ali who also followed the legacy of his grandparents was a man of great wisdom and intellect. He was a devoted, selfless and sincere social worker of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri community in Africa. He was indeed a friend to everyone he met, an honourable man of business, an extremely keen and conscientious worker, and one, who spent an incredible part of his time in public service.

The sudden sad demise of Marhum on 23rd February 2000 was a moment of great sadness and shock across the Shia Ithna-Asheri community in Africa, and beyond its borders.

He was a great, humble and eminent devotee of the community. No doubt, he left magnificent and indelible footprints on the path of the history of our community in Africa and in the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa.

Marhum will always be remembered for his services to the Community and the general public of Arusha. His religious lectures and advice are still fresh in the minds of all those who were present in his valuable life of time. He always left a favourable and lasting impression on those with whom he came across in contact. Alhaj Bwana Ali banked his treasures in the hearts of his friends who will cherish his memory till their time to come.

Such rare personalities are born “one in a million!”

May Allah (swt) grant Marhum maghfirah and rahmah and keep him abode in the close proximity of our chosen ones. May Allah (swt) grant the deceased aa’la darajah in jannat and sabr-e jameel to his entire family.

May Allah SWT repose the departed soul in the abundance of His mercy and rest him amongst the chosen ones – Aameen. We request our readers to remember marhum and all the Marhumeen with Sura-e-Fateha.
