1934-1993

Long before this community knew of him, Marhum Aliasgher Mulla Nanji stood at the forefront to serve his community and family.

Following their expulsion from Uganda, his family arrived in Nairobi, where he took the position of being an active member of his community.

His presence was nothing short of a beacon of light, strength, and support for his family and the community at large. Regularly attending mosque and actively participating in programs led to his appointment as the chairman of Nairobi Jamaat, where his passion for serving the community came to fruition. After holding this position for one term, Marhum continued to offer his voluntary services in other areas, including the matrimonial committee, where he took the lead.

Influenced by his personality and dedication to the ummah, his offspring have gone on to study in the hawza in Iran and England. Their active involvement in the community mimics his engagement; constantly serving as teachers in the madrasah, arranging sessions for ladies, holding majalis at home, participating in fundraising and awareness activities, and volunteering in matrimonial and youth committees within their own jamaats worldwide.

Marhum Aliasghar Nanji departed from this world to be with his Creator on June 8th, 1993, corresponding to the 17th of Dhul Hij’jah 1413 AH. He is survived by his wife and six children, who now reside in Nairobi and London.

May the Almighty grant him ajr for these deeds, give him an elevated status, and allow others to be inspired by his selflessness and compassion for humanity.

May Allah SWT repose the departed soul in the abundance of His mercy and rest him amongst the chosen ones – Aameen. We request our readers to remember marhum and all the Marhumeen with Sura-e-Fateha.
