A poetic reflection on Ayatul Kursi
He calls me His Believer –
and my heart pauses,
trembles,
softens at the weight of such love.
Allah’s Believer…
eighty-eight times,
as if every word is a heartbeat,
a gentle whisper in the vastness of His creation.
Allahu la ilaha illa Huwa Al-Hayyul-Qayyoom
Allah – there is no deity except Him,
the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all.
He holds the universe in His hands,
yet looks at me,
and calls me His.
He owns the heavens, the earth, the galaxies beyond counting:
Lahu ma fissamaawaati wa ma fil-ard
To Him belongs everything.
The sun stretches its light to Uranus,
billions of kilometres away.
Galaxies swirl, trillions in number,
and still… He sees me.
He calls me His Believer.
He sustains every breath, every life,
all 7.6 billion humans,
millions of birds and animals,
oceans teeming with the unseen.
Every heartbeat, every rising, every falling,
all flow in harmony because of Him.
La ta’khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm
Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him.
And yet, He leans close to my soul,
whispers softly:
“I am here for you.
I see you.
You are safe with Me.
You are loved, My Beloved.”
Nothing moves without His permission.
Planets glide in perfect orbits,
galaxies spin in quiet symphony,
gravity flows as He commands.
And still, He calls me –
His Believer.
Wa si’a kursiyuhus-samawati wal-ard
His Throne encompasses the heavens and the earth.
And in awe, my soul realises:
this title, this name,
is love beyond measure.
To be His –
to be cherished in the vastness of eternity –
is a romance my heart can barely contain.
He is my comfort, my protection,
my keeper in the infinite.
“Come to Me, My Beloved.
Place your trust in Me.
I will never forsake you.”
To be called His Believer –
is to be held in a divine embrace,
to feel awe,
to feel love,
to feel small,
yet immeasurably precious.
And I melt into that love,
trembling, soft, alive —
because the One who owns galaxies
has chosen me as His Believer.
Upon hearing its name
My mind immediately connects
With the image that had set
In my mind’s storage cell
Regarding the mentioned object
This is a blessing of my Lord, the Great
Having provided me with the memory which retains
All I will to see and then to reflect
Or else, create new images as per my interests
As I wander between the past and the présent states
The beauty of this memory cell is that
With its frequent usage
Better it continues to get
Instead of becoming less
As it gradually grows and expands
Whereas on the other hand
Upon letting it remain in stillness
Succumbs down and lays as a dead
Till the moment when
Occurs an extraordinary situation
Reviving it into a motion again
