Self-improvement
How you start anything plays a key role in how successful you will be. This is true for how you begin each day. Everyone knows the adage about ‘getting out of bed on the wrong side’ – it may not be true but metaphorically it is 100% correct.
Making a good start goes a long way in helping someone accomplish a task whether that’s a piece of office work, cooking a dish or playing a sport. It’s a form of momentum – like giving a stalled car a really good push to get its engine started.
Its much the same with how you start your day. Many of us make excuses – didn’t get enough sleep, feel tired (even after sleeping well) the car broke down, the rain delayed you getting to work – the danger comes when it becomes a habit.
A good early start gives you positivity and energy:
1. Get up at least 1 hour earlier than normally, and spend a few minutes meditating, stretching and exercising. This will release the hormone endorphin which relieves tension and stress and boosts energy.
- Make time for breakfast rather than rushing with a mug of coffee in your car. Enjoy the breakfast together, you have been fasting all night, you need to energise your body.
- While at breakfast help their day with a positive note-smile, make eye contact, and ask how they are. Avoid bringing up any negative conversations as an argument you may have had with them the day before.
- No matter whether you walk, drive, cycle, or take a bus/train, decide that you will have a relaxing /stress-free commute to work this time in ways that make you feel good – by listening to a motivational speaker, listening to music or reading a book!
- If you are not a morning person, make an effort to always act positive and happy, both with your family & and colleagues in the workplace.
“Practice to smile as often as you can and you will see a big difference in your life”.
