slamic ethics is the ethical system formed by the teachings of the Quran and explained by Prophet Muhammad through action and words. Technology is supposed to be linked with Islamic ethics.

Technology is a product where scientists put their ideas and knowledge into a physical form. For example, phone scientists made phones as they had an idea for how people communicate.

As we know our world is changing with technology. Our Islamic world also changing with more advanced technology so is our Islamic ethics more and more people are converting and more people are discovering the truth and manners of Islam

More and more Muslims are trying to memorize the Quran which is the holy book for us. More scholars are trying to preach the message of the Quran and teach us what the prophet (SAWW) used to do and how he used to preach and teach good manners.

The scholars, sheikhs, and Syeds are taking the pain of teaching people and guiding the people who are getting misled by the followers of Shaitaan.  The followers of Shaitaan are misleading our Muslim brothers and sisters of Islam. We should remember the Islamic ethics of the prophet we should bring brotherhood among ourselves through the teaching of the Holy Quran.

This holy book is very precious to the Ahlulbayt (as) the prophet (saww) said that if we follow 2 things we will never be misled the 2 things are the Ahlulbayt (as) and the Holy Quran.

Technology can be an advantage and a disadvantage to Islamic ethics so they will be explained in further detail. Technology can be an advantage because people can do mustahab acts in the technological product for example a phone. On a phone, there are apps created for reciting the Quran keeping, track of your good deeds and your bad deeds, also telling us the Salah time, and teaching us more about Islam and the ethics to follow. In some of the Holy Quran apps, there are meanings of the Holy Quran so the Muslims to understand what they are reciting. On YouTube, we can listen to educational videos and learn about the history and struggles of Islam.

Technology can be a disadvantage too if misused for example some apps like WhatsApp can be used for gossip and gossiping is haram for Muslims. It can also be used to talk to the opposite gender which is also haram in Islam. On YouTube, they can be bad content for the kids who watch. Children’s mindset will therefore be misled and they will have doubts about their religion.

Having ethics with technology is really important because that is what defines us as Muslims. The Holy Prophet (saww) preached using his Akhlaq for 40 years as that is one of the best ways to preach. Similarly, we have to follow in his footsteps and the guidelines that he has brought to us. Without ethics, technology will be used in a very bad way and can destroy lives as we see with cyberbullying and scamming online.

Technology is also upgrading very fast and we still don’t know the negative effects it has. So it is really important to first study Islamic ethics so that we can know what is right and what is wrong. I say Islamic because our religion is the moral compass and acts as a guide. For example, ChatGPT has just come up and there are many ethical concerns raised. Is it allowed to use it for essays? Will it be plagiarizing? And so on. These have to be looked up very carefully.

The quick development of technology can be a good or a bad thing. It all depends on how you use it and how ethical it will be.  For example, a new product by Apple has just come out, they are called Vision Pro. This new product can be used to teach people on different subjects if used the right way but it can also lead to addiction in gaming and so on.

In conclusion, modern technology has its advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on the user and how much they adhere to Islamic ethics.
